Arthur W. Strauss, 86, of Allentown, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, in Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Theresa (Jaindl) Strauss. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in July. Born in Strausstown, he was a son of the late Albert and Martha B. (Miller) Strauss, and was the last surviving member of the Albert and Martha Strauss family, originally from Strausstown. He served during World War II with the Army. Mr. Strauss was a carpenter for the city of Allentown for 32 years before retiring in 1986. He was a charter member and very active at St. Timothys Lutheran Church, Allentown, where he served as sexton for 50 years. Arthur was a member of the M.O.R.A. Club, Allentown.
Survivors: Wife; daughter, Martha Ann Strauss of Allentown; grandson, Brian A. and his wife Bonnie of Whitehall; great-grandson, Conner.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Timothys Lutheran Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown. Call 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Arrangements, Stephens Funeral Home Inc., Allentown.
