Last night Mr. Christian Groh, aged 80 years, died at his home, this side of West Myerstown, situated on the Berks & Dauphin turnpike. The immediate cause of his death was kidney trouble, although he had a paralytic stroke in 1870, from which he never fully recovered. Mr. Groh in his time was one of the pillars of the Myerstown U. B. church. He was a devout Christian, a highly esteemed citizen, a man of influence among his neighbors and was widely known. He pursued the farming business until unable to do so and lived on the farm where he died the best part of his life. He leaves to survive him a wife, who is also in ill health, unable to move about without assistance, and five children: William, living on a farm at the Halfway House; John, engaged in business at Avon; George A., who is living on the farm with his parents; Mrs. Rebecca Reinhold, at Canton, O.; and Emma, wife of John S. Kreider, of this city.
