George H. Oxenreider, 83, of Muhlenberg Twp., died Monday, March 5, 2012 in his residence.
He was the husband of Gloria E. (Spirat) Ketner Oxenreider. They were married on September 4, 2004 and celebrated seven years of marriage. George was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth M. (Zerbe) Oxenreider, who died August 1, 2002.
Born in North Heidelberg Twp., he was the son of the late George C. and Katie M. (Holzman) Oxenreider.
George was a self-employed dairy farmer on the family farm until retiring in 1989. He then worked for North Heidelberg Township for twelve years until 2001. He was a member of Christ Little Tulpehocken Church, Jefferson Twp. George was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Fire Company and Pioneer Fire Company, Robesonia.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Barbara A. (Oxenreider), wife of John E. Rittle, North Heidelberg Twp.; three stepsons: Scott W. Ketner, and his wife, Sandra, Lancaster; Eric L. Ketner, and his wife, Nancy, Tilden Twp.; and Forrest A. Ketner, and his wife, Audrey, Herndon, Northumberland Co.; and one stepdaughter, Crystal G. (Ketner), wife of Nathan Snell, Lancaster.
There are eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
George was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur H. and Ellwood H. Oxenreider; one sister, Catherine H. (Oxenreider) Care; and two half sisters, Verna (Oxenreider) Fishburn and Irene (Oxenreider) Hainley.
Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Christ Little Tulpehocken Church, 40 Church Road, Bernville, PA 19506. Burial will be in Christ Little Tulpehocken Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the church Thursday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
