John C. Gabel, 76, of 2385 Cambridge Road, Honey Brook, was pronounced dead on arrival Saturday of natural causes at Community Hospital of Lancaster after being stricken ill at work.
He retired from Rutts Custom Kitchen, Goodville, after many years, then worked at Denny's Restaurant, Lancaster, and Honey Brook Family Restaurant and was a weather watcher for the National Weather Service.
Gabel was a member of Honey Brook United Methodist Church and Honey Brook Township Grange No. 1688.
Born in Honey Brook Township, he was the son of Wayne S. Gabel of Honey Brook and the late Verna Cake Gabel.
He was married 42 years in December to Grace Baer Gabel.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are a sister, Betty G., married to Harper C. Layton of New Holland.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Layton.
