Thomas Baltzer (c. 1711-c. 1789) emigrated from Germany in 1738, and eventually settled in the vicinity of present-day Greenwich Township, Berks County and Weisenberg Township, Lehigh (then Northampton) County. It seems as though he was not only the first "Baltzer" to settle in present-day Berks County, but also one of the first of the surname to settle in colonial Pennsylvania. In 1750, the year in which Heinrich was presumably born, it appears that Thomas was still the only immigrant with that surname residing in the area of Berks County. While I have yet to make a definite connection between Thomas and Heinrich, I have found numerous records pertaining to Thomas's history in Berks County (see timeline below). Furthermore, according to the published records of Reverend Daniel Schumacher, a "Henrich" Baltzer was confirmed at the Weisenberg Church (near Thomas's property) in 1764. Andreas and Catharina Baltzer, possibly siblings, were also confirmed at the Weisenberg Church that year.
