    Biographical  Although Fred has a Tombstone in the Esperance Cemetery, he is buried in Mexico near his winter home. 
    Education  Schoharie Schools, Altamont and Cobleskill High Schools, Cornell University, 1921. 
    Occupation  College English Professor; Cornell University, NY (His salary for his first year was $1200.00); Stanford University, CA; and Rensselaer University NY. Owned and operated a 90 acre Farm (Oak Nose Farm) that his father purchased in 1903,were he developed an arboretum on Lape Road above Esperance. named after a fellow professor, George Landis, from Allentown PA and later Troy NY, who left Fred a large endowment in his will. Fred left the arboretum to SUNY and it now has over 400 acres. Fred also authored around twenty books on various subjects and poetry. During Prohibition played piano in local speak-easys. Creator and editor of "Trails" a magazine of poetry in the early 1930s.
