  	Johannes purchased his farm from William Remberry, a 220 acre tract in Oley Township. Deed is dated January 30, 1728. That same year his mother died and a small plot, 80 x 80 was set aside on the homestead. The private cemetery contains six generations of Hochs and is known today as Hoch private cemetery #1. Location is approximately 50 yards northwest of crossing of Bertolet Mill Road and Hoch Road in Oley Township, PA. Johannes first built a log house on his land and it was said this structure was used by the community as a stronghold during Indian raids. It was destroyed by fire in 1868, when it was being used as a tool shed for the farm. Present stone house on homestead was built by Johannes' son Abraham in 1788. An addition was added in 1811 and remodelling in 1889. Johannes received a land warrant for 50 acres on March 31, 1733, somewhere. He purchased a 266 acre tract in Richmond Township in 1741, which he later sold to his son Daniel. He sold some land in Oley Township to his son in law, Jacob Keim, in 1753. He erected a mill in 1761 in Oley Township, and that same year sold some Oley land to his son Johannes. He also purchased some land in Maidencreek Township, which he later sold to his son Jacob. In 1761 Johannes was recorded with 300 acres. With his will he did grant and devise unto son Abraham, 220 acres.

He was the father of eleven children: (1) Deborah was born 1721. (2) Samuel, born 1723, moved to Poplar Neck. He married a daughter of Jonathan Herbein, of Oley, and they had three sons and one daughter, two of the sons dying quite young. (3) Rudolph born 1725, lived in Maiden-creek, where he reared six sons-John, Daniel, Jacob, Isaac, Abraham and Samuel-and four daughters. (4) Daniel, born 1728, had nine sons-Samuel, Jacob, John, Daniel, Abraham, Isaac, David, Joseph and Philip-and four daughters. (5) Maria and (6) Magdalena, twins, were born in 1730. (7) John, born 1733, married Susanah Levan, had one daughter, and died in 1763. (8) Susan was born in 1735. (9) Jacob, born 1738, married (first) Miss Weiser, and (second) Miss Fisher, and had five sons-David, Abraham, Solomon, William and Daniel-and three daughters, all born and reared in Maiden-creek. (10) Esther was born in 1742. (11) Abraham, born 1745, married Susannah Weiser, and lived on the old Hoch farm, where one son, Abraham, and two daughters were born.
