Stricken at Work
While at work in the tube works of the Reading Iron Co. shortly after 9:30 this morning, Erastus J. Bierbower, 308 Pine street, was stricken with illness. He was removed to the plant's emergency ward, where medical aid was applied. In a few minutes he revived. He was assisted home and the family physician was summoned. At 9:55 o'clock he passed away. Mr. Bierbower was 69 years old. Death was apparently due to heart trouble with which he suffered for some time. Deceased was at his post at 7 a.m., his usual time. When he left home he did not complain of illness. Mr. Bierbower was among the best-known and oldest employees in the tube works and was employed by the company more than 10 years.
He was born and reared in Goldborough, York county, and was a son of the late Samuel and Mary Bierbower. Ten years ago he moved to Reading. Mr. Bierbower was a member of the Church of God and was affiliated with the I.O.R.M.,Knights of Pythias, and the Shepherds of Bethlehem.
There survive his widow, Mahala (nee Bowers), and two sons William and Ralph R., both of this city, and one brother, William, of Honeygrove, Tex. Coroner Schmehl issued a certificate of death due to natural causes.

Died - Bierbower - In this city, on the 28th inst., Erastus J. Bierbower, aged 69 years. Funeral at Middletown, Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Friends can view the remains at his late residence, No. 308 Pine street, on Sunday afternoon after 5 o'clock.

The funeral services over the remains of the late Erastur J. Bierbower of Reading, formerly of town, who died Wednesday morning at his home in Reading from heart failure, will be held this morning at 9.30 o'clock at the Church of God. The funeral cortege will arrive her at 9 o'clock and will proceed at once to the church where the Rev. H.T. Hoover, former pastor of the church, will officiate. Members of the Red Men and of the Knights of Pythias will act as pallbearers and burial will be made in the local cemetery.
