- Jacob Spengler, who immigrated to Berks County, is frequently confused in internet genealogies with Jacob Spengler, son of Hans Rudolph. Analysis by Jim Keller addresses this misconception. One of his sources, The Annals of the Families of Caspar, Henry, Baltzar and George Spengler (Edward Spangler, 1896), identifies 13 children of Hans Rudolph, 3 of whom immigrated to York County, PA, and 2 of whom died without issue in Philadelphia. According to Edward Spangler, all of Rudolph's other children, including Jacob, remained and died in Germany. Mr Keller also cites German-American Families in the United States, volume III, 1918, Schlegel, providing details of Jacob's family in Germany.
