Paul L. Berger, 85, died June 10 in his residence on East Meadowbrook Road, North Coventry Township, Chester County. His wife, Grace L. (Hafer) Berger, died June 7, 2000. Born in Alsace Township, he was a son of the late Herbert and Esther (Young) Berger. Berger was employed for 34 years as a lab technician by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Pottstown, until his retirement. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Pottstown. Berger was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a former cubmaster of Lower Pottsgrove Cub Scout Pack 207 and assistant leader of Kenilworth Boy Scout Troop 127. Berger was a past president of the Pottstown chapter of the AARP. Surviving are two sons, Barry G. of Pottstown, and David A. of East Coventry Township, Chester County. Other survivors include a brother, Dorsen A. of West Lawn; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Catagnus Funeral Home, Pottstown. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Twp.

PAUL L. BERGER, 85, WORLD WAR II ARMY CAPTAIN
Paul L. Berger, 85, of North Coventry Township, widower of Grace L. (Hafer) Berger, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, in his home. Born in Alsace, Berks County, he was a son of the late Herbert and Esther (Young) Berger. Mr. Berger graduated in 1936 from Wilson High School, West Lawn, Berks County. He worked for 34 years as a lab technician for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Pottstown. He served in the Army during World War II, retiring as a captain. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Pottstown. He was a cubmaster for the Lower Pottsgrove Pack No. 207 as well as an assistant Boy Scout leader for the Kenilworth Troop No. 127. He was a past president for the Pottstown chapter of the AARP. He is survived by two sons, Barry G. Berger of Pottstown, and David A. Berger of East Coventry; one brother, Dorsen Berger of West Lawn, Berks County; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one brother, Guy Wiedner. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Catagnus Funeral Home, 711 North Franklin Street, Pottstown. Rev. Karen Creasy will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Donations may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 11 South Price Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
