Simon Peter Spangler, 74, a veteran of the Spanish-American War, died yesterday in the home of his son-in-law and daughter, 1229 Fidelity St. He was a son of the late William and Katie (Haag) Spangler and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church; Reading Eagles Home Company; Aerie 66, Fraternal Order of the Eagles; Veteran Firemen's Association, and Schuylkill Fire Company.
Surviving are his widow, Sallie (Bobst) spangler; two daughters: Ruth, wife of Harry Becker, with whom he resided, and Miriam, wife of Bryan Castner, Reading; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers: William, Hyde Park; Arthur, Fleetwood; and Paul, Reading.
Services Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, the Rev. Maynard C. Hallock officiating. Burial in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
