According to The People Came published in 1977 by the Osborne County Genealogical Society, the George and Elmira Knoll settled one mile north of Osborne KS, sheltering in a dugout and adobe. According to the family he filed his own homestead papers on 12 July 1882. Attached (see Media) is his final proof notice in Osborne County News, page 8, Aug 4, 1887. Also attached is a description of the home George and Elvira built which appeared in the Portis Independent, page 1, Jan 15, 1931. |
