Jean Elizabeth Faust (née Metz), a longtime resident of Delaware County, passed away quietly in the presence of family on June 13, 2021, while in Ocean City, NJ. She was 90 years old. Jean was the widow of William H. (Bill) Faust of Southwest Philadelphia and Lansdowne who passed away in 1984.
Jean was born in Philadelphia on October 13, 1930, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (née Weiss) Metz and attended John Bartram High School. Jean and Bill married in 1948 and together they raised four children. She, along with her sister Joanne Phillipe and sister-in-law Peggy Metz, worked at Hoover & Sons Printing company in West Philadelphia. After leaving Hoover, Jean branched out into childcare and continued working well into her 80's.
Jean was a foodie long before it was cool. She was a wonderful cook, who could take leftovers and transform them into a feast. For family and guests alike, her kitchen was the center of the home and made for the best of memories. She loved to dine out too and especially enjoyed Casey's, the Clam Bar, and Carrabba's for their mussels. She will be remembered for her sharp mind and quick wit.
Jean is survived by her daughter Robin and son-in-law Joseph Margraf, daughters-in-law Boni Byrne Faust and Jeannie Nanopoulos Faust, grandsons Jason Faust, Conor Margraf (Heather), and Rory Margraf, granddaughters Kimberly Faust Thomas (Jere) and Christina Faust, and three great grandchildren with one on the way. Jean is also survived by her loving and devoted brother, James (Jim) Metz with whom she spent many days enjoying lunch, a stroll through the mall, or catching a Phillies game on TV. She leaves behind many nephews and nieces including Drew Phillippe who seldom missed a Thursday evening dinner date with his Aunt Jean, as well as her close friend, Debbie Keeth.
In addition to her husband, Jean was predeceased by her cherished sons Ronald W., William J., and Wayne P. Faust, grandsons Matthew W. Faust and Jacob E. Faust, and her dear sister, Joanne Phillippe with whom she lived for twenty years. They are all gathered now at the heavenly banquet and no doubt Jean is running the kitchen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Philomena's Catholic Church at 41 E Baltimore Avenue, Lansdowne on Friday, July 23rd at 10:30 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill will follow immediately.
