John P Arthur SR b. 25 Jan 1918, d. 16 Oct 2003, he came from Ireland on a boat with his parents and two brothers Robert and William. Their parents passed away on the trip, and other family members (aunt's, uncles e.t.c. did not want the responsibility of him) left him at a Catholic Orphanage with a note saying that they were Methodists and they would not care for him. -(my father found a copy of this note somewhere, I'm trying to get a copy)

ARTHUR, JOHN P., 85 - of Egg Harbor Township, passed away on October 16, 2003 in Egg Harbor Township. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was a Machinist for the A.G.I. Textiles Philadelphia, PA. He was a veteran of W.W.II and Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Arthur of Egg Harbor Township, a daughter, Susan Arthur of Egg Harbor Township, a son, John Arthur Jr. and wife, Elena of Northfield and a daughter Joann Betz of Vineland; grandchildren, John Paul Arthur III, and Stella Arthur both of Northfield, Alana Betz of Vineland.
Services will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. Burial will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
