Mary M. Bair, 94, of 740 N. Duke St., died Friday at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was a seamstress for Singing Needles, Leola, for 20 years before retiring in 1970. She also managed the former Fulmers, which made parachutes during World War II.
She attended Columbia schools.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. She also was a member of the Women's Republican Club, where she was recently elected as an honorary member of the board of directors. She served on the board for 20 years.
She was a member of the Iris Club, Lancaster Towne Club, St. Anne Neumans AARP, Conestoga View Auxiliary, Lancaster Opera Club, Occupational Development Club Auxiliary and Columbia Hospital Auxiliary.
Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Ida Murphy Mischlich. She lived most of her life in the Lancaster area.
She was married to the late Harold B. Bair.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary J., married to James Johnston Jr. of Allison Park; a sister, Evelyn Swift, married to Dr. Elwood Swift of Kissimmee, Fla.; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
