LeRoy L. Achenbach, "Red," 76, of Shoemakersville, passed away in his residence on Sunday, January 25, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
He was the husband of Elaine F. (Bedell) Achenbach. They were together for thirty-two years, since May 28, 1983.
Born in West Hamburg, he was the son of the late Elmer R. and Beatrice B. (Arndt) Achenbach.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
LeRoy was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local 429.
He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Twp. LeRoy was also a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company and the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens. He enjoyed shooting pool, going on Senior trips to the casinos, NASCAR and football. LeRoy also loved the snow and enjoyed life.
In addition to his wife, Elaine, LeRoy is survived by a son, Le Achenbach, St. Croix, Virgin Islands; one grandson, Benjamin; and two sisters: Elsie M. (Achenbach) Frymoyer, companion of LeLand Shade, Shoemakersville; and Ellen R. (Achenbach), wife of Roger Hartline, Shoemakersville. LeRoy is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and their families.
LeRoy's family would like to thank the family, friends and church members who sent him cards throughout his illness. He truly appreciated them. The family would also like to thank the nurses and caregivers for their kindness and care given to LeRoy.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
