Martha M. Strausser, 92, of Freeport, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at her home. She was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Creighton, daughter of the late John and Anna (Pastorek) Betush. She lived in Freeport for six years, living prior to that in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Buffalo Township. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sarver Brethren Church and also attended Union Baptist Church, Kittanning. She was a lifelong church attendee and participated in Bible study at Freeport Hi-Rise. Martha enjoyed sewing, upholstering, singing in the choir and playing the organ. Survivors include her two sons, James D. (Donna) Strausser, of Freeport, and David A. (Dianne) Strausser, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two daughters, Carole (Lloyd) Bastin, and Diane (Ronald) Parachino, both of Buffalo Township; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Strausser, on Sept. 19, 1990; seven brothers; and two sisters. There will be no public visitation. Service was private and officiated by the Rev. Jonathan Hill, pastor of Union Baptist Church. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Private burial was held Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burial[sic].
