Dennis Elliott Trabits, 68, of Avonmore died Feb. 28, 2005, at UPMC St. Margaret, Aspinwall.
He was born June 17, 1936, in Foster, and was the son of the late James and Anna L. Swanson Trabits.
Before his retirement in 2001, he was employed by National Roll, Avonmore, as a supervisor of cost accounting.
Mr. Trabits was a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was stationed aboard The Blandy.
He was a member of Hebron Lutheran Church in Avonmore, VFW Post #7901and Loyal Order of Moose #37, also in Avonmore, was a founding member of 30 years standing of the Avonmore Lifesavers, Boy Scouts of America, belonging to the Order of the Arrow and achieving the founders award and Silver Beaver Award, 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Shriners, Kiski Township Sportsmen Club, Masonic Lodge of United Service #1118, New York, and Senior Citizens Center, Avonmore.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all activities that involved the Boy Scouts.
Mr. Trabits is survived by one daughter, Denise J. Nealey; and one son, Duane E. Trabits, and his wife, Jo-Ellen, all of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Corey Berlin and Danielle Pfilmier, and her husband, Josh, also of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Homer E. Trabits, and his wife, Margaret, of Dallas and James E. Trabits, and his wife, Helen, of Daytona Beach, FL. He was a dog lover who is survived by his faithful companion, Buster.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. Bond Trabits.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME, Avonmore, where services will be Friday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend John Ludwig officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery, Avonmore. Military services will be provided by the VFW Post #7901 Wednesday evening at 7:30.
