According to the family stories, the people of Mayflower Church left all the young children in the care of Lena Roach's daughter and all able-bodied members helped to fight the fire but were unable to save the house. It was told that Kate's son Albert picked up the cream separator and carried it out to the yard. After all was over, Albert was unable to pick it up again. |
