Rocklyn D. Berkheimer, 51, former owner/operator of the Sunshine Cab Co. of Hazleton (1992-1997), and a resident of 537 W. Front St., Berwick, died Friday in Pembroke, N.Y.
Born in Reading, he was the son of John C. Berkheimer, Fort Pierce, Fla., and Audrey D. (Batdorf) Palm, Reading.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
For the past three months, he was a truck driver for Metropolitan Trucking of Bloomsburg. Prior to that, he drove for Trans Systems, Berwick, and Warner Trucking, Allentown. From 1975 to 1987, he was a quality control supervisor for Nuclear Power Plan Construction, and worked with U.S. Testings of Reading.
He was a former Cub Scout master at Alsace Lutheran Church, Hyde Park.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, the former Vicki E. Lewis, RR 1, Hazleton; sons, John D. Berkheimer, Kutztown, and Ben J. and Nick J. Berkheimer, both of Hazleton, where they reside with their mother; a daughter, Tia L. Weidenhammer, Hyde Park, Pa.; a step-daughter, Jennifer L. Martzell, Mount Carmel, two grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held from the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Burial will take place in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
