Emidio J. DeSantis Sr., retired mushroom farm owner and stock car owner, died March 13, 2007, in his residence in Temple.
DeSantis, 82, was the husband of Jeannette S. (Oyler) DeSantis.
He was a self-employed mushroom grower operating E.J. DeSantis Inc., Temple, for more than 45 years, retiring in 1987.
A member of the Reading Stock Car Association, he owned car No. 14.
Born in Temple, he was a son of the late Ottavio and Luigia (Costantini) DeSantis.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.
He was a past president of the St. Marco Society, Temple.
DeSantis also is survived by a son, Meme DeSantis Jr., Temple; and three daughters: Mary Jo Ober, Mohrsville; Vicki Furillo, Reading; and Lynne DeSantis, Laureldale.
Other survivors include a brother, Mario DeSantis, Temple; and five sisters: Caroline Hiester and Anita Black, both of Laureldale; Sara Bagenstose and Teresa Isett, both of Temple; and Josephine Lechner, Hamburg.
There also are six grandchildren: JJ Furillo and Anthony Furillo, Michele Lombardo, Karl Ober, AJ DeSantis and Nick DeSantis; and a great-granddaughter, Payton Furillo.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary and Mafalda DeSantis.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. in Milkins Funeral Home Inc., 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Friends may call Thursday 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
