Kathryn Groover, 94, passed peacefully on Dec. 10, 2009.
She was born in Center Township to James Kirkhoff and Minnie Himmelberger.
Kathryn enlisted and served our country proudly with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. She retired as a major in March 1961 with an American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal and Occupation Medal (Germany).
She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach, Fla., and was also a registered nurse.
She will be missed by all who loved her.
Kathryn was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Groover. Survivors include son Dr. & Mrs. Jack Groover; brothers Bill and Jim Kirkhoff; sisters Helen Remlinger and Bonnie Kirkhoff; grandchildren Vivian Mahoney and Marshall Groover IV; as well as all her great-grandchildren and many other treasured relatives and friends.
