Jay A. Batz, 64, of Jefferson Township, passed away suddenly on January 31, 2017.
He was the husband of Ilene J. (Kauffman) Batz. Jay and Ilene were married August 10, 1974, and celebrated forty-two loving years of marriage. He was born in Lebanon County, Pa., the son of the late Allen J. and Mary A. (Gibbel) Batz.
A 1970 graduate of Tulpehocken High School and a 1974 graduate of Penn State University, he last worked for Warfel Construction Company, based out of Lancaster, for ten years as a Construction Superintendent. Prior to that, he worked for Advanced Building Systems and Dolan Construction.
An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Robesonia Fish and Game Association, Shartlesville Rod and Gun Club, enjoyed hunting, camping, four wheeling and NASCAR, but most of all he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and the peaceful solitude at his cabin.
In addition to his wife, Ilene, he is survived by his two sons and their families: Ryan J. and Robyn (Postal) Batz, Conn.; Jeremy A. Batz and his fiancée, Morgan Wright, N.J.; grandchildren, Alexa J. and Barrett R. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and Gerald Batz, and his sister, Beatrice (Batz) Zechman.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family at a later date.
