  [S188] Pottsville Republican, on-line, 13 Jan 2017. Beatrice T. "Pepper" Rumpf, 87, of Ash Road, Cass Township, passed away Wednesday while in the company of family members at her home. She was born in her home on Ash Road, May 24, 1929, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Smolskis and Phillip Mineika. She was the wife of Robert A. Rumpf, having celebrated 67 years of marriage. She was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Minersville. Pepper enjoyed Saturday night bingo at St. Vincent's Hall, planting flowers and going to the casino. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed having a full house and making sure that everyone was always properly fed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda, in 1952; sisters, Anna "Mickey" Gudswa, Adelle Pothering, Caroline Yurkonis and Mary Blash; brothers, Joe and John Smolskis and Lenny Smolsky. She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters Barbara, wife of William Nevils, and Lori Bercher; son, Robert, husband of Michelle Rumpf; son-in-law, Joe Bercher; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Services are private at the convenience of family. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with the arrangements.
