  [S188] Pottsville Republican, on-line, 23 Feb 2022. Joan Elizabeth Gaumer, of Flushing, Michigan, age 66, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022 after a short illness. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Details to be announced. Joan was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to Allen and Joan (Tuppie) Angst. Joan is a graduate of St. Clair Area High School and Schuylkill Vocational Tech school as an LPN. Prior to her death she was employed as an LPN supervisor. Joan is survived by husband John J. Gaumer; daughter Donna Palmer (husband Sean); grandchildren Caleb, Shyann, Autumn and Dakota; father Allen Angst (wife Carol), and mother Joan Angst; sisters Donna Bonenberger and Lynne Devlin; brothers Bill Angst (wife Karen), and Roy Angst (wife Diane); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, John C. (JC) Gaumer. Joan leaves behind many sad and broken hearts. She was known for her kindness, sincerity, and compassion. Joan rarely asked for anything for herself but gave others everything they needed. She never took time to care for herself, always caring more for others. She always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions, and always called or sent cards. She has many friends in Michigan and Pennsylvania, whom she greatly enjoyed spending time with, especially on camping trips. She was so happy to be able to live in Michigan with her youngest grandchildren, who meant so much to her. She worked hard to care for them, especially after the death of her son, J.C. in July 2020.
