Verna S. Lane, 78, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.
She was the wife of Walter R. Lane, to whom she was married 55 years in June.
Born in Bethel on July 25, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Edna (Reber) Hollenbach.
Verna was a 1957 graduate of Tulpehocken High School, and a 1961 graduate of Mansfield University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education.
A teacher for 30 years, she retired from the Wellsboro Elementary School.
Verna was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Michael, husband of Robbi Lane, of Bethel; grandchildren: Steven, Katherine and Sean Lane; a sister, May, wife of John Blatt, of Robesonia; a brother, Leroy, husband of Rosie Hollenbach, of Bethel; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Emmet.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Lane in 2007, and a brother, Ralph Hollenbach.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, with a visitation beginning at 12 p.m.
