Elsie Irene (Moll) Billman, 88, formerly of Temple, died December 3, 2013, in St. Joseph's Hospital, where she had been a patient one day. She was taken to the hospital from Laurel Center, Hamburg, where she had resided since 2010.
Born April 18, 1925 in Molltown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel R. and Edna R. (Schaeffer) Moll.
She was predeceased by her husband, Claude W. "Bill" Billman Sr., in 2006, and her son, Claude W. "Billy" Billman Jr., in 2004.
Elsie was a 1943 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and McCann Business School.
She was a life member of St. Peter's UCC, Molltown, where she had been very active for many years in the Women's Guild, as a Sunday School teacher, and the first female deacon on Consistory. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for many years at the Hamburg Center. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and the Phillies.
She and her husband operated a hosiery stand at Zern's Market, Gilbertsville, for over 50 years, and previously had a hosiery store in Reading.
Surviving are two brothers, Donald R. Moll, Shoemakersville, and LeRoy R. Moll, Gibraltar; one sister, Jean R. (Moll), wife of Harold Yerger, Wernersville; a brother-in-law, John A. Nicholas, Springfield, VA; and a sister-in-law, Verna E. Moll, Temple. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy E. (Moll) Nicholas, in 2012, and her brother, Bernard E. Moll, in 2009. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and their families.
Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from St. Peter's UCC Church, 219 Maidencreek Road, Molltown. A viewing will be from 1:00PM to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Eastern Star services will be at 1:50 p.m. Burial immediately following the service in the church cemetery. Contributions can be made to the memorial fund of St. Peter's UCC Church, 219 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
