Esther M. Swank, 78, of 998-47 S. Krocks Road, Wescosville, died Tuesday, March 17, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Richard L. Swank for 58 years.
She worked in the cafeterias of the Lower Macungie and Shoemaker schools of the East Penn School District for 29 years before retiring in 1981.
Born in Lower Macungie Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Maggie (Leiby) Berger.
She was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Alburtis.
She was past president and a life member of the Wescosville Fire Company Auxiliary and a past officer in the Alburtis lodge of Daughters of America.
Survivors: Husband; sons, Rodney A. of Tamaqua and Barry W. of Slatington; daughter, Carol A., wife of Carmen Bauman of East Texas; brother Grant of Lenhartsville; sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Haines of Alburtis and Joyce, wife of Robert Yenser of Macungie, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
