Gary W. Unger, 59, of West Lawn, passed away Friday July 19th in his residence of natural causes.
He was married to Rosie (Schilz) Unger. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Walter R. Unger and Grace Arlene (Burkhart) Unger.
He was employed for thirty-eight years for Empire Wrecking as union labor.
Recently, he was employed by Heritage Retirement Community in Flying Hills, Driving Miss Daisy, last working on Wednesday.
He was a member of West Wyomissing Fire Co., Penn-Wynn, Quoiting Club, 14th Ward, Fish Pond, and Northmont. He loved watching and feeding birds in his backyard, known as "Wallyworld." He checked on the fish every day at Fish Pond.
Surviving are his children: Brian Gary Unger of West Lawn; Theresa A. Unger and companion Jared Grand-strom of Temple; Katie, wife of Eric Eddinger, of Temple, and Erica, wife of Andrew Marabella, of North Dakota. There is a stepson, Shane Pinkasavage, husband of Allana of Sinking Spring. There are nine grandchildren: Xavius, Sebastian, Nolan, Anthony, Alexus, Trysten, Raven, Andrew Jr., and Benjamin. Also, a sister, Fay Miller, and a brother, Tom Unger, husband of Bonnie, both of Mohrsville.
Family and friends may attend a viewing on Sunday, July 21st from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA. Following the viewing a celebration of Gary's life will take place at the West Wyomissing Fire Co. Banquet Hall, 2160 Cleveland Ave., West Lawn, PA.
