Claude W. "Bill" Billman Sr., 79, Temple, a former business owner, died Dec. 10, 2006, in Reading Hospital, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He was admitted there from Manor Care Health Services, Muhlenberg Township, where he had resided one month.
He was the husband of Elsie I. (Moll) Billman, also a resident at Manor Care. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 30.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harold and Florence (Wolf) Billman.
He was a self-employed salesman. He and his wife owned and operated the former Billman Hosiery Store, Reading, and also operated a hosiery stand at Zern's Market, Gilbertsville, for more than 40 years.
He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Molltown.
He was a Navy and Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Reading Lodge 549, West Reading; the Rajah Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Reading; and the Goodwill Fire Company Beneficial Association.
He was predeceased by a son, Claude W. Billman Jr., in 2004.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Milkins Funeral Home Inc., 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, with the Rev. William Snyder officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
