Ira Angstadt was born in Rockland Township, a son of Jonas and Alice (Fenstermacher) Angstadt.
He was a director of development for the Muhlenburg Medical Center, Allentown, from 1959 until 2 weeks before his death.
Before joining the medical center, he was editor of AeroDigest magazine. He was longtime member of the Lutheran Layman's movement, serving on its executive committee and in 1952 was appointed chairman of the Lutheran Church in America delegation to the North American Lay conferance. In 1954 he served as supervisor of general field work and counsellor for the layman's movement fundraising project.
He was a charter member and first president of the Allentown Northeast Kiwanis Club. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, and of the board of the Evangelical Committee of the Lutheran Church of America.
Surviving are his widow, Mabel E. (Stump) Angstadt; three sons, a brother, Earl, Reading; three sisters, Mrs. Warren Davis, Wernersville; Mrs. Harry Greim, Bristol, and Mrs. Edgar Bright, Center Valley, and four grandchildren.
