Samuel Knapp, 403 S. Railroad St., Myerstown, died this morning at the Lebanon Sanatorium. He was 74. Born in Bethel, he was a son of the late Geary and Kate Berger Knapp. He was a retired railroader and a member of the Myerstown United Church of Christ, the Bethel and Frystown fire companies and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sadie Lutz Knapp; the following children: Marion E., wife of Albert Houtz, Myerstown; Richard G., Palmyra, and James A., Westover Air Force Base, Mass.; a stepson, John S. Loose, Spinnerstown, Pa., nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Mabel Zellers, Myerstown RD 1; Mrs. Mary Strauss, Bethel, and Mrs. Carrie Baker, Hershey, and a brother, Levi B., Bethel. Funeral services were held this afternoon for Samuel Knapp, husband of Mrs. Sadie Lutz Knapp, 403 S. Railroad St., Myerstown, from the Rohland Parlors. The Rev. J. Donald Backenstose, pastor of Tulpehocken United Church of Christ, officiated. Interment was in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ammon and Warren Lutz, Mark Knapp, Richard Eberly, Wayne Heffelfinger and Valentine Uhrich. [Lebanon Daily News, March 16, 1967, Page2]
