Bowers-McFarland Betrothal Revealed
Mr. and Mrs. David McConkey McFarland of Town Acre, West Chester, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Patricia, to Raoul Walker Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Emery Bowers, of this city.
Miss McFarland was graduated from Wilmington Friends School and from Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt., class of 1949. At present she is associated with the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Mr. Bower was graduated from Reading High School class of 1943, attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was selected under the Navy V12 program to attend Columbia University for study on the Manhattan Project, from which college he received his BS in engineering and commission as ensign. After a period of active service he resumed study at Harvard. At present Mr Bowers is chairman of the editorial board of the Harvard Educational Review, teacher of science in the university and an advanced student in the School of Education.
