Gerald D. Lengel NEWMANSTOWN Gerald D. Lengel, 79, died suddenly Friday, November 8, 2013, in Millcreek Twp. He was the husband of Kathleen "Janie" J. (Shirato) Lengel, to whom he would have been married 55 years on January 31, 2014. Born in W. Cocalico Twp., on September 15, 1934, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Mildred E. (Parson) Lengel. A 1952 graduate of Newmanstown High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a machinist at Bethlehem Steel, Lebanon, for 30 years. He was also employed for 10 years at the ELCO School District in the maintenance department. Although he currently had no church affiliation, he believed in Jesus Christ as his lord and savior. In addition to being with his family, he enjoyed the daily camaraderie with his friends at the Hess's mini market in Richland. He was a life long member of the NRA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shawn, wife of Michael Weaver of Robesonia; a son, Scott, husband of Kim Lengel of Newmanstown; a brother, Terry, husband of Linda Lengel of Lebanon; stepgrandchildren, Stephenie Kintzel of Newmanstown and Brandy Lucas of Tremont; step great-grandson, Jason Kroh, Jr. of Tremont; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marlin "Jimmy" Lengel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at Womelsdorf Union Cemetery.
