Ruth M. Heist, 94, formerly of Hyde Park, died June 9 at 7:45 a.m. in Stone Ridge Village Skilled Nursing Center, Myerstown.
Born in Hyde Park, she was a daughter of the late Morris W. and Sallie E. (Hinkel) Heist.
Heist was employed from 1943 to 1945 as a machine operator by the Singer Sewing Machine Co., Reading, and was later employed from 1945 to 1965 as a training supervisor by Singer in New York City.
She was the owner-operator of the High School of Clothing Construction, Reading, from 1965 until her retirement in 1985.
Heist was a member of Grace (Alsace) United Church of Christ, Hyde Park, where she was president of the Women's Guild for 11 years.
Surviving is a sister, Grace E. (Heist) Polk, Millbrook, Ala.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Grace (Alsace) UCC. Burial will be in Alsace Cemetery, Hyde Park. Bean Funeral Homes Inc., Shillington, is in charge of arrangements.
