Laverne M. Kershner, 77, Pine Grove, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in Pottsville Hospital. She was the wife of the late Paul Yost, who died Oct. 2, 1977, and the late Luther "Dutter" Kershner, who died March 5, 1993.
Born in Schuylkill Haven on March 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Eva Reichert Seltzer. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Ravine, where she was a longtime choir member. She was a former member of the Mary E. Moore Chapter 372 Order of the Eastern Star, Pine Grove. She had worked as a knitting operator at the former Gold Mills, Pine Grove.
Surviving are son Luther Kershner Jr.; sisters Betty Muray and June Fenstermacher, both of Schuylkill Haven; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, preceded by a viewing at 9:30. Burial will be in Schuylkill Memorial Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
