John C. Blatt, 75, of North Heidelberg Twp., passed away Friday, January 5th in the Reading Hospital.
John was married for forty-nine loving years to May L. (Hollenbach) Blatt.
Born in North Heidelberg Twp., he was the son of the late Ralph and Sarah (Yoder) Blatt.
John was a member of North Heidelberg Church United Church of Christ.
He was a longtime farmer on his family farm in North Heidelberg Twp.
He was a member of the North Heidelberg Twp. Board of Supervisors for nineteen years.
He was a member of Berks Southeast Cattleman Assoc., the Shartlesville Grange, # 12 Groundhog Lodge Board, a member of Berks County Farm Bureau, where he was a Past President, and a member of the PA Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR Racing and was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Football fan. John loved to read.
Surviving are two sons, James P. Blatt and Christopher R. Blatt and wife, Tammy, both of North Heidelberg Twp.
There are three grandchildren: Tyler, Ashley and Hailey Blatt.
Also, a brother, Robert Blatt and wife, Judy; and a sister, Beatrice Gable and husband, Steve, both of Penn Twp.
He is predeceased by a sister, Barbara Nabozny.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at noon in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville, with Reverend Fred Diehl officiating. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in North Heidelberg Church UCC Cemetery.
