Irene M. Lash, 88, formerly of Leesport, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017, in the Berks Heim with her husband by her side. She was the wife of Curtis E. Lash. They were married on July 5, 1947, and celebrated seventy years of marriage.
Born in Berne, Tilden Twp., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Borkey) Henn.
Irene was a graduate of Ontelaunee High School.
She was a cafeteria worker for the Schuylkill Valley School District.
Irene was a member of St. John's (Gernant's) United Church of Christ. She was also a member of Central Berks Lions Club.
She enjoyed bingo, ceramics, helping with church dinners and traveling with her husband.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: Curtis E. Lash Jr., and his wife, Donna, Ontelaunee Twp.; Keith A. Lash and his wife, Linda, Bern Twp.; and Craig A. Lash and his wife, Diane, Bern Twp.; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Irene is also survived by four brothers: Daniel, Calvin, Floyd and Charles Henn; and seven sisters: Shirley Williams, Patricia Keller, Mae King, Beverly Miller, Kathryn Wentzel, Lorraine Baer and Nancy Vollmer.
She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Raymond Henn; and two sisters, June Henn and Violet Hoffmaster.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 28, at 11:15 a.m. from St. John's (Gernant's) Memorial Hall, 12 Gernant's Church Road, Leesport.
Burial will follow in Gernant's Cemetery.
