Jesse T. Shay, 90, of Orwigsburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. Jesse was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Pottsville, a son of the late Florence (Seltzer) and Jesse Shay. He was the widower of Sylvia Kathryn (Gruver) Shay.
Jesse was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Second Mountain Rod & Gun Club. He served in the Army from 1948 to 1952 and then was employed as a furnace operator for the former Alcoa Plant, Cressona, for over 40 years.
Jesse was predeceased by his siblings, Dennis, Herbert, Arthur, Robert, Grace and Jean.
Jesse is survived by his brother, Vincent Shay, husband of Faye, of Cressona. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Barry Gruver and his wife, Victoria, of Wernersville; his sister-in-law, Gloria Wessner and her husband, Ronald.
Private religious and military honors services will be held at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Orwigsburg. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
